Further investment from Ocado
Jones Food Company and The Ocado Group's relationship first began in 2019 when they first invested in the business.
At that time they bought into our founder and CEO James Lloyd-Jones' vision to bring large-scale vertical farms to the UK as we launched our first farm, JFC1.
Today, JFC1 is growing and selling well over two tonnes (2,000kg) of fresh basil each week supplied into the supermarket grocery supply chain and delighting customers around the country.
We have also solidified our position as the UK and Europe's largest operating vertical farm with over 55,000sqft of growing space and 150 tonnes of annual growing capacity.
"We are thrilled to have The Ocado Group's continued support as we grow towards our mission to be a world leading vertical farming company. World leaders in grocery automation and engineering, Ocado are the perfect partner for us as we lead the way in to the next generation of British agriculture."
James Lloyd-Jones (Founder & CEO).
Today we are pleased to announce that relationship continues to grow and evolve with an additional investment of £5m as part of our wider £25m raise.
This latest funding round will spearhead our rollout of farms around the country and specifically our second farm, JFC2.
This latest investment from Ocado comes as their original stake in the business has "more than doubled", a sign of the excellent synergies between our two organisations.
And whilst we are incredibly proud of the progress we have made together until now but can assure you that this is only the beginning!
Stay tuned for much, much more.
