Here at JFC, we are celebrating the launch of our first consumer facing brand, Lēaf - a new product range including the UK’s first pesto to contain vertically farmed basil. The range currently includes a number of leafy salads as well as three sauces to enhance meals with fresh, natural flavours: basil pesto, vegan basil pesto and basil dressing.

Lēaf’s flagship fresh salads include a baby salad mix, rocket, baby spinach and basil. The salad boxes, which use recyclable packaging, offer a powerful yet delicate flavour, and can all be harvested and delivered to clients within 24hrs.

The new range of homegrown products are all natural, sustainably grown and delicious, using renewable energy, zero pesticides and 95% less water than traditional farming methods. The lack of artificial preservatives, colourings or additives in any of the products means their true natural quality and flavour are maintained.

Our CEO/founder, James Lloyd-Jones, said: “I’m delighted to launch our first consumer facing brand, demonstrating our dedication to building towards a more ‘self-sufficient’ Britain when it comes to food. We’ve spent a lot of time perfecting the brand ethos for Lēaf, which responds to the increasing demand for more sustainable ways of eating, and we’re confident that the high quality of the salads and sauces will speak for themselves. We want more people to know that what’s on their plates has been vertically farmed, and that this method offers a real solution to some of the issues we’re currently facing. By bringing the idea of ‘local’ even closer, we can grow fresher, more flavourful food that travels the shortest distance to the plate with less harm to our planet.

“Having quickly grown our client base for herbs and leafy greens as JFC, with this new product range we can now build upon these existing relationships and forge new ones with retailer partners both large and small across the country. Our ultimate aim is to become a staple British brand, offering products known for great natural taste and strong sustainability credentials. This is new territory for JFC, but I’m confident that we can make an impact with Lēaf offering us more opportunity to tell the story of what vertical farming can really achieve”.

The Lēaf vegan pesto and basil dressing are currently stocked at online vegan supermarket GreenBay. The pesto is stocked at Green Village, a Mediterranean deli in Swiss Cottage, London. Clients interested in ordering our salads should contact us through the online form.
